Weathering Projects

One of my passions besides building model railroads is weathering locomotives and rolling stock.  My experience is limited to only a couple of years, as I just recently began expanding my skills into the area of "enhancing" plastic models to make them more realistic.  In my first weathering attempts I used my airbrush to dirty up my coal car fleet that I operated on my BNSF Orin Line layout.  I then began trying different techniques including dry-brushing, hand painting with acrylics and oils, and chalks.  Even within each technique, there are multiple variations that provide almost an unlimited number of alternatives to applying age, dirt, grime, and even damage to rolling stock and locomotives.
